Community Minded Businesses

What is Community Minded Businesses

Community Minded Businesses (CMB) is an initiative aimed at enhancing the capacity of the business community to create positive change in their communities and the world. It’s designed to engage any size business or enterprise. It challenges token and transactional forms of businesses sponsorship and support, offering innovative ideas that encourage diverse ways businesses can give back and influence positive change.

Community is everyone’s business

Businesses often tell us that they want to give back to communities but would like to explore different ways to do so, not just monetarily. Businesses and companies are also keen to get involved in more sustainable community initiatives, rather than token, quick fix solutions.

The Community Minded Businesses (CMB) initiative is designed to provide tools, ideas and opportunities for businesses to positively impact their communities. This could be at a local level or more broadly, depending on the scope and capacity of the businesses we engage.

Our Aim

Community Minded Businesses aims to:

  • Build community and business partnerships to more effectively address community issues.
  • To create an accessible platform for businesses to establish or extend their community involvement and footprint.
  • Provide creative and cost effective solutions to be more inclusive and community minded.

Our Role

Community Minds is continuously looking at opportunities to allow businesses to get involved in their communities beyond the traditional forms of financial contributions such as sponsorship and donations.

We are privileged to be part of and connected to a broad network, ranging from business, community and education sectors. This allows us to facilitate connections and collaborations that helps drive change in communities.

We anticipate playing a lead role in helping break down siloes and closing the divide across sectors to allow for more effective collaboration and collective action around issues that affect our communities, including our natural environment.

How we are growing Community Minded Businesses

Community Minded Businesses is not a set program, rather an ongoing initiative that we aim to build over the next few years through various platforms and engagement methods such as:

  • Conferences, seminars, roundtable discussions and focus groups
  • CMB toolbox: resources, tools and templates that help businesses in becoming more community minded
  • Showcasing the exemplary work of businesses that are making a positive impact in our communities and for our planet (video interviews, vlogs, e-newsletter)
  • Endorsement of Community Minded Businesses on our website, social media platforms and at our speaking engagements

Businesses Changing the World

Businesses Changing the World (BCW) is a movement, a long-term initiative to inspire and educate businesses to combine purpose alongside their profit making. BCW is not only about informing and educating but creating opportunities for networking, connections, and collaborations to happen.

Through the Businesses Changing the World initiative, Community Minds organises masterclasses for businesses and community organisations. The purpose of these masterclasses is not only to promote the adoption of community minded business strategies, but also to create a space where both social entrepreneurs and not-for-profits can network and connect with businesses that are dedicated to creating purpose alongside their profit making, thus making a difference in their communities.

It is about how we better support businesses to change the world and how we can support businesses that are creating positive impact by recognising and celebrating them and inspiring others to follow suit.

Sponsor a Community Minds initiative

We have a great program encouraging businesses to support and get involved in our growing initiatives and programs. Your involvement will provide many benefits to your business, including an official Community Minds endorsement of your business, as well as publicity and marketing through our social media platforms and website.
